Shipping quote settings overview
To manage shipping settings, go to Admin | Store Administration | Configuration | Shipping quote settings. This page contains three tabs:
Overview: This first tab provides a brief summary of the available shipping methods.
Packaging settings: This page offers several options.
At the top of the page, you’ll find three checkboxes that control various options: the first two display error messages and debugging information for administrators and developers when troubleshooting. We don’t need these functions right now, so leave them unchecked.
The third checkbox — Warn the customer during checkout if a shipping method is not selected — should be checked. This ensures that customers must choose a shipping method before completing their order.
Shipping quote pane message: This field allows you to set a custom description on the order page. You can leave this message as-is.
Shipping error message: This is shown to the customer when something goes wrong during shipping quote calculation. It's a good idea to include a phone number or email address here so customers can contact you directly without abandoning their cart.
Default origin address: This is required for accurate shipping cost calculation, especially when working with shipping companies. Carefully fill out your name, company name, phone number, and address, then click "Save settings".
Shipping methods: This tab allows you to manage all available shipping methods.
You can enable or disable any available shipping methods and set their order in the list. Ubercart includes four shipping modules by default:
- Flatrate: Assigns a fixed rate to products.
- USPS: For integration with the United States Postal Service.
- UPS: For integration with UPS services.
- Weight-based shipping: Assigns shipping rates based on product weight.
